My Year in Obsessions {2018}
I always look forward to the end of the year for a variety of reasons – the holidays, the anticipation of the new year, and the habit of looking back on the past twelve months. Since 2015, I've always recapped the year with a series of posts I call "My Year in." From best books to biggest obsessions, they're some of my favorite posts to write. So, for the next week, you'll see what I loved in 2018. Now it's time for obsessions! • Obsessions in 2017
2017 was the first time I recapped products that I bought and loved that year, but I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to do it again. It isn't a comprehensive list of what I bought (or even everything that I was so obsessed with), but it's 20 of my favorite things. In a few cases, the products are sold out or unavailable online (as was the case with a few clothing items I'd planned to feature). That's just a note before you proceed – hope you enjoy!
2. Klub Nico Georgette d'Orsay Flat in Taupe Suede ($115) – Since I'm almost six feet tall, I tend to mostly wear flats. I'm always on the lookout for cute and comfortable ones, and these fit the bill. I love the look.
3. The Original L.L. Bean Boot ($125) – So, I technically bought these a few years ago. But honestly, this was the year that I fell in love with them. I wore them all over the UK in the winter and have practically lived in them this fall.
4. C9 Champion Women's Active Tank Top ($15) – I don't work out, but I randomly grabbed a few of these fitness tank tops over the summer. They ended up being perfect for running errands or playing outside with my son.
5. Columbia Women’s Mountain Side™ Heavyweight Fleece in Chalk & Navy ($45) – I bought these before my trip to the UK, and it was a great investment. It was cozy, and it's been the perfect warmth for the mild Georgia weather.
6. Altar'd State Tortoise Hoop Earrings ($15) – This is the other pair of earrings I bought at Altar'd State, and they're super cute, too. They're different from what I usually wear, but super cute and lightweight.
7. Wit & Delight Backpack ($30) – I absolutely love this backpack! It's the perfect size, the design details elevate it over a normal backpack, and has just enough compartments + can be attached to the handle of luggage.
9. Felt Like Sharing 10x10 Navy Felt Letterboard ($45) – When it was time to decorate the shelves in my library, I knew I wanted to include a felt letterboard. I fell in love with this navy one and am so pleased with the quality!
10. heyday Hedgehog iPhone XS Max Phone Case ($20) – I had a basic, solid color iPhone case for a long time and was so excited to find this adorable one at Target. I just love the hedgehogs – and my son does, too!
11. Room Essentials A-Z Bookends ($17) – I found these cute bookends when I was working on styling my bookshelves and snapped them up. And don't worry, the negative reviews are related to issues with online orders.
12. A Color Story App – Someone on Instagram recommended this photo editing app, and I gave it a try. I've been using it for months now and have been pleased with it (and I'm probably not even using it to its full advantage).
13. Dyson V8 Animal+ Cordfree Stick Vacuum ($300) – You know you're an adult when a vacuum makes your list of favorite things! This makes quick cleanups a breeze, and I love the various attachments that come with it.
14. Maira Gall Asterism Responsive Blogger Template ($8) – I got the urge to change my blog theme earlier this year and went with this template I found on Etsy. I was able to customize it a ton on my own and love the result.
15. Belle by Illume Tin Candle in Island Moonlight ($11) – This cheap Target candle is a dupe for a much more expensive candle I always love at Anthropologie, and I was so excited when the Internet introduced me to it.
16. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (7th Generation) in Black ($119) – I upgraded my original Paperwhite to the newest one originally but exchanged it for the previous generation after having some issues. I've been happy with this one!
17. Anthropologie Page Turner Bookmark ($15) – Is this worth $15? No. Does it make it hard to close a book all the way? Yes. Do I love it anyway because I bought it in Wisconsin while visiting Kelly? Absolutely.
18. Sorry, I'm Booked Canvas Tote ($22) – I'd been eyeing this for a while before I finally splurged (because I didn't really need it). But I'm glad I did because the quality is great and it's become my go-to library tote.
19. Amazon Echo Dot in Sandstone ($30) – I thought I'd never get one of these, and look at me now. I've got one in the kitchen – for everything from playing music to answering questions about measurement conversions.
20. Apple iPhone XS Max – I upgraded to the XS Max after dropping and breaking my 6, and it took me a few days to get used to the large screen. But now I adore it and don't want to go back. Ha! The camera is awesome, too.
What have you been so obsessed with this year?
Anything on my list that you love or want to try, too?
That fleece looks so cozy!! I've been thinking about upgrading my kindle this year- it's 4 years old and doesn't have backlighting like the Paperwhite does. I'm glad you like yours! I've been pretty obsessed with this cardigan I found at Kohl's and the new purse I got at Marshalls before my England trip. They've been my go to's the whole year!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I got an iPhone X after dropping and breaking my 6 too (6 plus though). What an upgrade the camera is.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I want to get duck boots. My husband got me the black Sperry version for Christmas, but I also still really want the OG LL Bean version.
I love the Echo dot. We have two and then also this bigger thing called an Orbi which projects our wireless internet downstairs but also serves a function as a speaker with Alexa as well.
I've been obsessed with my Hunter boots, but my pair that hits mid calf -- I actually like them better than the taller ones.
The Wit & Delight backpack is so cute! And I also love the look of the fleece as well. I'm always interested in these posts of yours because you always manage to find the cutest things ;)
