2014 Prequel & Sequel Challenge

Hosted by Novel Heartbeat & Writer Grrl Reads
If you've read my blog before, you may have heard me talk about how much fun I had last year participating in the Summer Series Challenge. I'm a self-confessed series addict, and I love discussing the different levels of my obsession. When I heard about the 2014 Sequel & Prequel Challenge, I knew I had to sign up. The challenge goal is: "To read as many prequels and sequels as you can. You set your goal at whatever numbers works for you." Click here for the complete challenge guidelines, and don't hesitate to join in!

I would love to reach ADVANCED: 51-75 POINTS, but I'm not actually making it a set goal for this challenge. While I think I could easily go higher with some extra effort, I want to just enjoy reading series and see what happens! I did create a Goodreads shelf to keep track of books I read that count towards this challenge.

You don't have to continue reading past this point, but I did make a reference list for myself to brainstorm what series I could read this year. I'm certainly not committing to these (nor do I own them all), but I thought it would be good to at least give myself some ideas of what I can accomplish this year!

  1. I'm in this one too! I love how you get points for every bit of progress instead of only for finishing a whole series -- I think that is a better way to see just how much of a dent we're making in reading piles :)

  2. This sounds like a great challenge! I'm probably unofficially participating, since I'm already reading so many series this year, and intend to add more to the list.

Now, I've got quite a few things to say about the books you've mentioned in your post:

Count me in when it comes to finally reading BITTERBLUE, STRANGE & EVER AFTER, IGNITE ME, ISLA & THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER, ROSE UNDER FIRE and THE LEGEND SERIES :)

    Happy reading, Hannah!

  3. Yayyyyyyy!!!! Although I haven't officially posted my list, I have many of the same series to read this year! I'm happy to see that there's someone else out there who hasn't read Requiem! Can you please hold my hand while we read? I'm nervous, scared and excited.

Also -- my box set of Legend just arrived yesterday! Are you interested in reading it together? I think I mentioned that in my email to you...or maybe I didn't, I can't remember.

  4. I am so excited for you to finish the Graceling series — I love Bitterblue, it’s my second favourite of the three!

I also hope you get around to L.M. Montgomery’s Story Girl series — it’s sooo good. I found it quite different from the all-too-familiar Anne and Emily series, in a good way! I always enjoyed rereading it in the summertime.

I also just read Scarlet on Boxing Day, and loved it!

  7. Hannah! I can't WAIT for you to read the Grisha trilogy. Seriously, it's so, so good. The world building is fantastic and the main character is one of my favorites ever (especially in the second book). And Sturmhond! He's the perfect mix of Roar and Captain Thorne. *end fangirling* I need to read/start/finish most of the series on your list. I'm currently especially obsessed with Graceling (LOVED the first book, still need to buy the second, own the third). I might need to participate in this challenge as well.
