October 2020 Goals
September was a more productive more than August for me, but I still found myself procrastinating tasks I knew wouldn't take that long. Thankfully, however, I did manage to check off most of the goals on my list. So, I'm pleased overall! Doing preschool at home with my big boy added a little more structure to our day, though it only takes about an hour so we've still got a lot of flexibility. As the weather cooled, we spent many afternoons outside – on walks, enjoying our screened-in porch, or running around our neighborhood playground. Our sweet baby started crawling, so there's even more exploring happening in our house. And now I'm so excited for all that October holds!
– Some fall adventures with my boys
– The release of the 2021 Powersheets
– A long-distance movie night with Kelly to watch Rebecca
Currently Obsessing Over:
– I don't buy my boys a ton of clothes, but I've been browsing recently since we're buying a few things for fall. In this process, I found this custom name onesie and toddler tee. Those will be added to the boys' Christmas lists! And once the baby starts walking, I will definitely be purchasing these shoes. How cute are they?!
– The new Cultivate What Matters collection launches on October 14, and I'm already planning to pick up the Powersheets goal planner. I love the changes they've made this year! But do I need a pouch, too? Hmm...
– One of my favorite things about fall is that it's the perfect time for pot roasts, delicious soups, and other deliciously comforting meals. My rotation will definitely include: Sausage & Butternut Squash Slow Cooker Risotto, Sausage Potato Soup, Baked Potato Foil Packs, Perfect Pot Roast, Chicken Pot Pie, Pumpkin Bread and Chrissy Teigen's Chicken Noddle Soup from her first Cravings cookbook. Yum, yum, yum!
– My sister got us both this nerdy t-shirt from Bookshelf Tees, and I love it! It's the perfect color and is so soft.
Yearly Goals:
(These should stay the same all year, so I'll just do month-to-month progress reports!)
– Read through the Bible in one year.
– Read a devotional every morning.
– Track my spending in the Goodbudget app.
– Blog 2x per week.
September progress:
– I made no progress in September, and I'm trying to choose grace over guilt over that fact.

– Although I missed a few days, I always got caught up quickly!
– I slacked off on this habit in September, adding purchases once a week. It's an October priority!
– Meh. I posted five times – not terrible, but definitely not twice a week.
Revisiting My September Goals:
–Schedule a monthly planning session. / This was the first time where I finished my month review and pre-planning a few days into the new month, but September just got away from me. But I still got it done!
–
– Complete Seven Months in the baby's journal + take monthly photo. / I did the photo on time but procrastinated on his baby book. Checking in on my Tending List near the end of the month reminded me to finish the task.
– Complete Seven Months in my big boy's journal. / Once again, I delayed starting this goal and barely finished in time to check it off my list. Why did I keep imagining it would take longer than it did? So close to being caught up!
– Cull, download, rename, and backup August 2020 photos. / One of the few goals I completed right away.
– Make my Fall TBR. / Though I didn't read everything from my summer TBR, I was still so excited to make a new list for fall. I shared the twenty books I'm hoping to read in a recent post, and I've already five of them since then.
– Start new learning routine with virtual preschool. / I'm so excited about this progress! My big boy started his virtual preschool, and we love it. We've gotten into a rhythm with it, and it's added a little extra structure to our day.
– Research family photo books. / I didn't even attempt this goal. Whoops!
– Re-evaluate finance goal. / While growing in my financial knowledge is still a long-term goal, I think I've realized it's something I know I should do rather than something I actually want to do. I need to dig in and find a stronger "why" behind the goal to help! For now, I'm going to stay small by continuing to track my spending.
– Complete three 20 in 2020 items. / Nick was traveling a lot in September, so some of the items I imagined completing weren't possible. The boys and I still did some sweet things, but they weren't ones on our list.
– Start planning Christmas gifts for my boys. / I'm not completely done with this yet, but I did start getting a plan together. And starting was all I hoped to accomplish! I'll continue to work on it in October, I hope.
My October Goals:
