Rewind & Maybe Review?!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Every week they post a new topic/top ten list and invite everyone to share their own answers. I'm so obsessed with lists - so it makes perfect sense that I'd love this feature!

I absolutely love re-reading and have, in fact, already written two Top Ten Tuesday posts about the topic this year alone: Top Twenty Books I Want to Re-Read and Top Ten Books I Want to Re-Read (But Don't Own Anymore). So, I'm tackling the topic again today... but with a small twist!

Top Fifteen Books I Read Before Blogging
That I Want to Re-Read (& Review!)

Five From School

1. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver - I read this book for summer reading, and I was hooked! I was obsessed with how the voice and setting in the book, but I don't remember much about the actual plot. And I haven't read anything else by Kingsolver, so I should probably do that, too.

2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - I cannot believe I've only read this classic once. I loved it in school, and I know that I'd love it even more if I read it today. I seriously need to make that happen.

3. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith - I somehow read this twice during high school, and that solidified its place on my all-time forever favorites list. Twice wasn't enough though! I need more time with Francie Nolan.

4. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy - I read this for my AP English class and like to think I'll re-read this someday in the future. It's a commitment, but I know it's worth it. I just have to find the time!

5. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell - So this is the only book I didn't technically read for school, but I did read it in middle school and discuss it a lot with one of my teachers. Did I even understand a lot of it at that age? Probably not. I definitely need to look at it agin with adult eyes.

Ten Before Blogging

6. Time Enough for Drums by Ann Rinaldi - This is one of the books that made me love reading about the Revolutionary War. I really enjoyed Rinaldi's books growing up, and this was one of my two favorites by her!

7. Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery - I may love Anne the most, but I definitely don't see enough said about Emily! I need to re-read these books so I can start sharing the love for this literary lady.

8. Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix - This is one of a very small number of books I saved from elementary school. It was one I read again and again! Shouldn't I see what younger me was so obsessed with?

9. A Coal Miner's Bride by Susan Campbell Bartoletti - Truthfully, I loved the entire Dear America and Royal Diaries series... but this one always had a special place in my heart. I'm not sure why, so I need to be reminded!

10. No Angel by Penny Vinenzi - I discovered this trilogy in college and tore through them. I've been craving historical epics lately... and I think that means I'm due for a little time with one of my favorite fictional families!

11. Just Ella by Margaret Peterson Haddix - I loved this book, but I can't even remember what happens in it. And I definitely didn't realize it was a series! I saw the redesigned covers that are coming out in April - can't wait to add those to my shelves.

12. A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly - This was the first book I read by Donnelly, and it established her as one of my favorite authors. I've only read it that once, but I keep meaning to sit down with it again.

13. A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers - I read a lot of Christian fiction in high school, and this was always one of my favorites. I lost my old copy so I replaced it recently. Will I love it just as much now as I did then?

14. Hannah and the Best Father on Route 9W by Mindy Warshaw Skolsky - My grandmother bought this for me when I was younger because my name is in the title, and I remember loving it! I've held on to it all these years, and now I need to revisit it.

15. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling - I didn't read these books until 2011 but loved being able to binge the whole series. I read them right before I started blogging, and I'm already dying for a re-read!

  1. I love that you have so many classics on your list. I have never read To Kill a Mockingbird or Anna Karenina but I would like to. I'm not sure how well I'd get on with Anna Karenina though but I'd like to give it a go. I don't know if I could stand Gone with the Wind though.

I think Harry Potter is on everyone's lists today... including mine!

  2. First off, Margaret Peterson Haddix was my main lady in elementary school! I LOVED Running Out of Time, and Just Ella is a series? I didn't know this either! A Voice in the Wind series was in my reread TTT too! I read it back when I was in high school and loved it, and every few years, I reread it again. I think I've read it in all three times through (the entire trilogy) and the first book five times. In my opinion, it gets better and better! :) Great list!

  3. Gone with the Wind is my fav! It's been far too long since I've read it though. A situation that should be remedied ASAP

  4. ♥ TKAM yes! While I like the idea of re-reading classics, I rarely do it, but this is one of the exceptions. This book (& the movie!) holds a special place in my heart and it's one I revisit frequently.

I only just recently found out Just Ella was part of a series too! How that managed to get past Tween Leah is beyond me, though the new covers are seriously beautiful and might tempt me to read the rest!

Oh, Harry. One day. This series, more than any other, is the one I want to re-read. It's a little embarrassing how long it's been since I last read them.. Prior to each new release I would read the books and haven't read any of them since the 7th came out. :( WAY too long.

  5. I love To Kill A Mockingbird! I have read it five or six times, but I still love it every time. And I have never read Gone with the Wind. I can't believe you read that in middle school! My middle-school self would have been too scared to tackle just a large book.

  6. Gone With The Wind is really on my mind these days but AGAIN as I've told you before, I haven't read it so it wouldn't be as a reread for me. I keep checking the library but I think I just need to buy the book and audio and just go for it. Yes to Anna K and of course the Francine Rivers series! I need to buy those too because they're ALWAYS checked out at my library. We actually have a massive Christian fiction stacks and the books are always checked out! (:

I'm working on HP right now and I've kind of stalled at about 3/4 thru Goblet of Fire. I'm so BORED with the series and I am almost embarrassed to admit it but this is exactly what happened the first time I read them. My goal was to finish the series by the end of the year but I can't make myself pick up the book. SAD FACE. I need momentum of some sort because I am sure to be the outcast of the book world for this.

  8. Have you reread Gone with the Wind yet, Hannah? A few friends and I are doing a (very) casual group read May 1 through August 1. I don't know if that would be too leisurely a read for you, but you're certainly welcome. I see you are a big fan of rereading. :) It's not going to be a structured readalong at all. More just the lot of us sitting about excited because we're on the same page. Some of the people joining are reading it for the first time.

Gone with the Wind is my very favorite novel. xx Anyway, you're welcome of it interests you!

I also need to reread To Kill a Mockingbird one of these days.
