June 2014: Recap + On My Shelves
I can't believe it's already July. That's insanity, y'all. I'm really excited about posting this recap because I've updated my format so that it can include the things I really want to share each month. Hope you enjoy!
1. Kate Spade Surprise Sale - A few months ago, I bought the Cobble Hill Lacey Wallet when it was on sale. I'm obsessed with it, and I've been dying to bring more Kate Spade goodness home with me ever since. When I got the email about the surprise sale, I couldn't resist these two beauties. Alexa and Rachel convinced me!
2. Blog Post Writing Binge - I was home alone one weekend, and it was miserably hot outside. Normally, I'd end up reading a lot or binge watching something on Netflix. Instead, I decided to get to work. Well, two days later... I had 22 posts scheduled. I've never been prouder of my blogging productivity.
3. Printed Pretties - I love all things paper! I have nothing against my computer, iPhone and Kindle... but there's just something about paper + print. Whether it's planning blog posts or writing notes, I can't resist writing it myself. I bought a number of paper products this month that I'll be highlighting in a post soon!
4. Friend Reunion + Gorgeous Wedding - My best friend, L, moved away after graduating from college (boo!), so I don't get to see her that often. One of our sweet college friends got married in June, and L flew in for the weekend. We ditched our husbands and had a fabulous girls weekend! The wedding was beautiful, the bride was stunning and the sweet reunion with these ladies was exactly what my heart needed.

1. Read Up the World - "To be honest, I can't separate the literary worth of some of these books from who I was, where I was, when I originally read them. Or who gave them to me, under what circumstances. But the point is this: these books are special to me. Inextricable to who I am, even. These books happened to me." This quote = LOVE. This was definitely my favorite blog post that I read in June - I love Emery's words, the heart behind her post and the challenge she issues to read outside your comfort zone.
2. bea 2014: how is it possible to be in so much pain (& joy) - So, I wrote my BEA recaps and read Elena's afterwards. I immediately wanted to scrap everything I'd written and start over. I had so much fun reading about her experience at BEA, and it made me wish I'd just followed her around the whole time, soaking up her adorable awesomeness. If you want to flail, laugh and live vicariously through someone, read this post.
3. Why I Love Reading {2} - One of the main reasons I love this post so much? It's totally true for me, too! Kelly talks about how she loves learning, which is one of the main reasons she's such a huge fan of historical fiction. I adore historical fiction for the very same reasons! Kelly and I are clearly nerds at heart, and I loved that she perfectly described one of the biggest reasons why I, too, love to read.
Favorite Song: "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran on x (Deluxe Edition)
This entire album is excellent, but this is the song I currently have on repeat.
Alias, The Complete First Season: I can't even tell you how much I love this show! The pilot is one of my favorite episodes of TV, and sometimes I'll just pop in the first DVD to watch it. Well, I couldn't stop there this time. I have a feeling this will be my summer re-watch. I love these characters so much!

What a fabulous month! Love your new format :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great month! I always love reading these cute posts of yours :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving this format...what an amazing month you had! I was soooo excited to see a fellow ALIAS lover out there! I was obsessed from the moment the first episode aired and I've done three re-watches of the entire series since it went off the air. My most recent one was last summer with my husband since (GASP) he'd never seen it before. Not sure why I agreed to marry him! ;-) Also - I just purchased the new Ed Sheeran album and am really digging it as well. He's like a mix between Justin Timberlake and John Mayer. I think...if that makes any sense.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again, I am drooling over that gorgeous leather Kate Spade! It's all sorts of amazing.
Finally....you posted ALL the books! Which is awesome because it gave me a bunch more that I now need to add to my TBR. Well...I think it's awesome but my husband may feel otherwise. He said I can't buy anymore books until I read ALL the books I have in my current TBR. He's funny that way!
Well, now that I've written a novel, I guess I'll let you go for now. Totally digging this feature and can't wait to see what July has in store for you.
Love your new format! Wish Spotify was available in Canada though -- I always want to see what you guys are listening to! I can't wait for your Smoke & Bone review -- I'm on the fence about trying that series, so will be waiting to see what you think!
ReplyDeleteI chuckled at your Jenny B. Jones books! I bought a Jenny B. Jones bind-up of the Charmed books, it's so cute! I have several of her books now, but I haven't read a single one yet. FOR SHAME. Tons of things I could say here but posts like these make it hard because I want to comment on everything. I will say that someone was kind enough to send me an audiobook of the Landline book from BEA since I didn't get to make it, but I need to get the book to read along with it (: I just can't listen without the print copy or ebook. Ack!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to jump around and comment on blogs for a while now, but I do love the format of your monthly recaps! It definitely highlights a ton of things, and that's AWESOME. I'm waiting in breathless anticipation for your post about paper products (because I'm a sucker for them too), and also waiting breathlessly for the next Kate Spade sale to pop up because I need a new bag ;)
ReplyDelete(Also, ED SHEERAN <3)
I LOVE YOUR KATE SPADE BAG!!!!!!!! and OH MY GOSH, thank you so much for the kind words about my nutso recap, haha. I so wish we saw each other more!! NEXT TIME. aaaand you know, I was pretty into Alias BUT HAVEN'T REALLY WATCHED S1-3 which are considered the good seasons? so if I was into it watching the crappy seasons, I bet I would get super into it.
ReplyDeleteI just won a copy of Being Audrey Hepburn from goodreads as well!
