Make These Into Movies!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Every week they post a new topic/top ten list and invite everyone to share their own answers. I'm so obsessed with lists - so it makes perfect sense that I'd love this feature!
Top Ten Books I'd Love To See As A Movie or TV Show
From Books I've Read in 2013
From Books I've Read in 2013
1. Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham - Good thing this is already being turned into a TV show! I loved this debut from one of my favorite actresses, and I would love to see Franny come to life on screen.
2. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick - A sweet summer romance with a little drama to spice things up? This was made to be a movie!
3. The Distance Between Us by Kasie West - Hot rich guy + snarky girl + witty banter = I can already picture myself smiling at the screen. I was totally picturing this as a movie the entire time I was reading, so now I just need for it to actually happen.
4. Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer - DUH! This is totally a situation where the book would be better than the movie, but I'd still totally want to see this book on the big screen. North Star, Texas, and the people who call it home should totally be immortalized on film.
5. The Caged Graves by Dianne K. Salerni - If done correctly, this is totally the kind of scary movie that I'd actually see. I refuse to watch most horror movies, but I would work up the courage to see this if it became a movie. Plus, knowing how it ends would help me get over my fear!
6. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - I'd go by myself with only a box of tissues to keep me company, but I still want one of my favorite reads of the year to become a movie. Nicholas Sparks doesn't have anything on Jojo Moyes. This book as a movie? It would scar me for life.
7. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead - I want this series to become a TV show! Forget turning it into a movie. I want to follow this series from week-to-week and became invested in all the characters. I want to go to work the next morning dying to talk to my co-workers about what happened the night before. Can't you just picture it now?
8. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer - I didn't really love Cinder, but I absolutely fell in love with this series after reading Scarlet. I'd like the whole series to be turned into movies... Because that would be so awesome! Imagine how cool this would look with some awesome special effects and some kickass leading ladies.
9. Heist Society by Ally Carter - This book reads like a movie, so it only makes sense that it's been optioned already. I'm so hoping this makes it to movie theaters because I'd totally go see this during opening week. A heist movie with savvy teens? Count me in!
10. The Betsy-Tacy Series by Maud Hart Lovelace - Maybe it's my love for mini-series, but I can totally see this on screen a la the Kevin Sullivan Anne of Green Gables films. I'd want them to follow the books a little better than those did (especially that last movie!), but I can already see myself binge watching episodes and crushing on Joe Willard. MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
I felt exactly the same way about "Cinder" - it was okay. Then I LOVED "Scarlett".
ReplyDeleteAlso love "Nowhere but Home" and "Someday, Someday, Maybe"
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about Cinder and Scarlet! The second book totally made me love the series.
DeleteI really love the variety of your choices this week, Hannah, particularly how you separated the novels by genre :)
ReplyDeleteI think The Distance Between Us might actually make a better film than a novel - That isn't to say that I didn't like it as a book, but I felt that certain aspects were a little rushed or weren't examined in as much depth as I like, which I think could be remedied in another medium. I love romantic comedies where opposites attract and I would love to see that particular story on the big screen!
I'm more than a little concerned about reading Me Before You now. I purchased it the other week but all I've been told ever since is "Have tissues ready!" Now I'm worried about the potential emotional devastation and have been avoiding it like the plague ever since :P
Thanks Jen! I love trying to mix things up :)
DeleteI totally understand what you mean about The Distance Between Us! I loved the book in some ways, but I also agree that certain aspects felt rushed or not fleshed out enough. I'm in total agreement with you - I'd love to see this particular story on the big screen!
Well, if it makes you feel better, I didn't really cry that much in Me Before You. I didn't need tissues, but it was definitely a moving book.
Ooo I love your list. I haven't read Nowhere But Home yet but I'm thinking it would be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIT IS AMAZING. I ADORED IT.
DeleteI still need to read quite a few of this but SCARLET. Omg. If the Lunar Chronicles gets made into a movie... I may die of happiness. I want to see these SO BADLY on the big screen. I think this is my new Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteHeist Society would be SO much fun! Especially since Ocean's 11 is one of my favorite movies! :)
Wouldn't that be the BEST movie?! I'd be in love with those movies. And I think Heist Society would be a fun and adorable movie! So many escapades and adventures :)
DeleteSomeday, Someday, Maybe is going to be a tv show?? YAY!! I haven't read the book (yet), but already can feel that I'm going to <3 it :)
ReplyDeleteThat's what I read online! It better be true haha!
DeleteI agree with Scarlet and Cinder. I think they'd be tons of fun to see on the big screen. All in all I love your list.

DeleteMy Life Next Door made my list too!! I just want to see all those cute and crazy Garretts running around :) I've seen Cinder on a lot of lists this week... and I think it would be super cool to see a cyborg Cinderella! People who don't read YA would be like ??? But then !!!! PS- Your blog is really pretty!! I love how clean it looks :)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
So do I! That family would be so fun to watch - and I have a feeling I'd fall even more in love with them <3

I'm really interested to see how they adapt it too! If done right, I think I'd LOVE it.
DeleteYES! You do need to read Scarlet :)
HAHA! I totally agree with you on the Betsy-Tacy books! Those would make a GREAT tv series!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I should have known you'd agree on that one :)
DeleteYESSSSSSSSSS every one I read I agree with! MLND, NOWHERE BUT HOME omg YES. Heist Society I would be right there with you seeing it!! The Distance Between Us would be ADORABLE but I'd be wary of the doll store haha!
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER ME BEFORE YOU would shatter my soul.
Nowhere But Home? I'd DIE if that was a movie. Heist Society? We'd be grinning like fools in the theater together. The Distance Between Us? Think of the laughs and swoons! But yeah, the doll store would be a litttttlleeee creepy.
DeleteI'd be scared of Me Before You, but I'd totally want to see it.
Love. Maybe Hilary Duff can be in one of these?
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the doll store in The Distance Between US.
Haha! HECK YES! I'd totally cast Hilary in one of these. Now to decide which one... ?
DeleteScarlet! My Life Next Door! Bloodlines! AMAZING PICS!!! I want to see Wolf!!! Also, totally need to read The Distance Between Us...like now! :)
ReplyDeleteREAD IT LIKE YESTERDAY. It's a little fluffy, but the banter is THE BEST.
DeleteBack in high school I remember saying I wanted to be a famous director so I could adapt Betsy-Tacy into movies. But that plan never happened though.... but I'm sure there's someone else out there who could make it happen!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the Betsy-Tacy books become movies! I really wish someone in Hollywood would get on that project :)
