August 2013: On My Shelves + Recap
Sarah Hearts |
I still can't believe August has already come and gone! When did that happen? I traveled to Boston for work for a few days in August, so I made sure to stop by two local bookstores there and pick up a few "souvenirs." I didn't read quite as many books this month, but I was glad to slow down and take my time with the books I did read. I also met my Goodreads challenge to read 100 books! There is still plenty of time left in the year, so I'm excited to see how many books I end up reading.
Prior to blogging, I read adult reads and classics almost exclusively. The year I started blogging is when I was first got into young adult, and blogging has only fed those reading interests. However, I've been more drawn to adult reads lately and am loving the change of pace. I'm remembering just how much I love books for big kids and have found so many new ones to add to my shelves, as you'll see from my book purchases this month.
I also received the sweetest surprise from Magan at Rather Be Reading that had me jumping up and down, squealing, and clutching a certain book to my chest like I'd never let it go. I cannot thank her enough for thinking of me, and I know what's next on my nightstand!

Oh my GOD, that copy of Just One Year is so beautiful! *dies*
ReplyDeleteOoh, I also read seven books in August and I'll be reading Cinder this month.
So many books in August and you're right, I liked it when I read Gone Girl earlier this year. It's a nice change of pace from reading YA. I should be picking up an adult novel soon.
I KNOWWWWWWW. *faints*
DeleteYay for seven books in August, and I hope you enjoy Cinder! I preferred Scarlet, but Cinder was a great intro to the series.
Glad you like changing pace with adult reads, too.
I for one am loving your new turn towards AF! :D
ReplyDeleteSide note: How did I miss this adorable wallpaper?
I'm so happy you're enjoying all my adult reads lately!
DeleteAren't her wallpapers the cutest?!
I refuse to believe that it's September. I still feel like I'm in June.
ReplyDeleteI'll need to read Just One Day soon, or Judith might actually kill me.
1. I KNOW. So crazy!
Delete2. DO IT. OR ELSE.
SO many things! (1) I cannot wait to hear what you think about Burial Rites. I discovered it through a Goodreads ad and have been dying to read it ever since! (2) We stopped by a flea market in NC this weekend that had a HUGE book booth and I found one of those Jane Austen Addict books. Obviously it made me think of you! ;) (3) The spines for the books you bought at the bookstore and online are so beautiful, especially The River of No Return and The Bone Season. Happy reading!
ReplyDelete1. LOVEDDDDDDD IT.
Delete2. Oh that makes me so happy! Glad you thought of me :)
3. Totally agree! I thought the same thing when I was taking the monthly picture!
Thanks for the mention!
