July 2013: On My Shelves + Recap
Sarah Hearts |
July was a really busy month for me, but also relaxing and refreshing. I went on my annual family beach trip at the beginning of the month, and I got so much reading on the beach. It's definitely one of my favorite places to read. I also finally put a dent in some of my NetGalley TBR and got approved for a number of books that I'm so psyched to read!
Time at the beach also meant a stop by my favorite independent bookstore, Sundog Books. I went in and got two books one day... and then had to go back the next and get three more. It may sometimes be expensive to shop local, but I love supporting this incredible store. Shopping there is such an experience - from the haphazard stacks of books to the numerous staff recommendations. I could spend hours in there!
I was also really excited to debut a brand-new look on my blog this month! It made me that much more excited about blogging, which was such a relief after having the blogging blahs a few months ago.

Your books always look so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear what you think of these! Especially Hundred Summers. I saw it in the bookstore again and was like EEE should I or shouldn't i? BUT I am being good for right now.
Hope August is amazing!
Thanks girl! :)
DeleteI will definitely let you know what I think of Hundred Summers! I adore the cover so, so much!
Yay Sundog Books! I didn't go there the first time I went to Seaside five years ago but I went several times while we were there this year. It really is the cutest bookstore! And I can't wait to see your review of The Caged Graves. Just added that one to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I adore that bookstore! It's messy, confusing and hard to find books if you're looking for something specific butttttt it's a great place to explore. And I really really liked The Caged Graves! Kinda scary and creepy but I couldn't put it down! I'll be reviewing it soon :)
DeleteI love your new blog look! And reading at the beach is my absolute fave too :-)

Thanks! And yeah, there's no better place to read :)
DeleteI've never heard of Sundog Books before, but after a quick search and seeing it's outside Destin, will definitely make a point to head there on our next beach trip. We were there over 4th of July, and with a rainy every day it would have been a perfect place to go. But I guess it'll just have to wait till our next trip.
ReplyDeleteWe went right after the 4th - and we definitely heard that we missed all the rain from the week before! Glad I could introduce you to this little gem, and I hope you get a chance to stop in the next time you're in Destin!
