Spring Into Action
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Every week they post a new topic/Top Ten list and invite everyone to share their own answers. I'm so obsessed with lists!
Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR
1. Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore - I was participating in the #CashoreGoodTimes read-along of this series, but then I totally slacked off and didn't reread Fire. However, since Bitterblue is a first time read for me, I'll definitely be joining back in and knocking this off my TBR list.
2. Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham - I adore Gilmore Girls AND Lauren Graham, so you can imagine my excitement level when I was approved for this book on NetGalley. Needless to say, I cannot wait to dive into this one soon!
3. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - After including this on last week's list, I'm even more sure now that I need to bump this up on my TBR and make it a priority this spring. So excited to meet this kick-butt heroine!
4. Cinder by Marissa Meyer - I know, I know. This was also on my list last week, and basically everyone that had read this one said I needed to get to it SOON. So I am, okay? I hear you!
5. The Passing Bells by Phillip Rock - Sorry, guys! I think this was on last week's list, too. But that's only because I'm seriously so excited to start this series that has earned some Downton Abbey comparisons. LOVE THAT SHOW!
6. City Girl, Country Vet by Cathy Woodman - I totally bought this one because I love the cover, and I think it's high time I got around to this one. It's got a dog on the cover, so I think this book is just begging to be "taken on a walk" around the reading block.
7. The Turncoat by Donna Thorland - For my TTT list about settings I wanted more of, I mentioned that I was dying for a little more Revolutionary War fiction. Well, I think the publishing world took note because I just bought myself this newly-released book set during that time period and cannot wait for the adventures and swoon.
8. Secrets Over Sweet Tea by Denise Hildreth Jones - I love this author and think the title of this one is just so Southern, so you better believe this will be a spring read for me. I thought about saving it for the summer, but I just can't wait that long!
9. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - I recently read and really enjoyed Attachments, so I'm really excited for Rainbow's second book. Based on the buzz I've been hearing, this is one I'm going to enjoy!
10. Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta - I'm currently hosting a read-along for the first two books in the Lumatere Chronicles, so you better believe this will be at the top of my TBR in about a month. I'm so excited to see where this story leads!
Eleanor & Park was cute. I hope that you enjoy it. Good list! Here is mine on The Life & Times blog.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed it!
DeleteI finally read Cinder last month and loved it! Elanor and Park also looks really good! :) My TTT list: http://aliceinreaderland.com/2013/03/11/spring-2013-tbr-list/
ReplyDeleteAlice @ Alice in Readerland
I just finished Cinder today and have Eleanor & Park ready to start soon! Yay!
DeleteThrone of Glass is on my list too! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteCinder is like the best book EVER. I just finished #2 -- Scarlet =D
I hope we both enjoy Throne of Glass!
DeleteI was very lucky to have won Quintana of Charyn...I love Melina Marchetta and she's one of my fave Authors :D
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten.
Have a great week!
She's one of my favorite authors, too! SOOOO AMAZING!
DeleteHnnnngg, I can't wait for you to read Cinder! It's one of my favorites. :D
ReplyDeleteI just finished Cinder today :)
DeleteCINDERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEhem.
Hahahaha! I hear you. Just read it today :)
DeleteOh, I forgot to put Eleanor & Park on my list, but I hope to read it soon too. Cinder was AMAZING. It's become one of my favorite series! I read Someday, Someday Maybe from netgalley and really enjoyed it--it's fun, a bit quirky, and really well-written. I only saw it because Lauren Graham wrote it, but after about 20% through I totally forgot that's why it caught my eye in the first place and had to actually keep reminding myself of the author.
ReplyDeleteI finished Cinder today! I didn't absolutely love it, but I do want to continue on with Scarlet. I think the series will probably grow on me more with that book.
DeleteI just finished Someday, Someday, Maybe this week and adored it! It was so cute - and you're right, quirky is a great word to describe it!
Cinder! That's on my list, too, and whenever I bring up the fact that I HAVEN'T read it, everyone jumps on me and tells me I must. I WILL! I just finished Eleanor and Park the other day and thought it was great! I hope you like it. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the reads, Hannah! Hope you can get to all of these. :)
Haha! I finally read it today because I couldn't fight all READ CINDER ALREADY comments I've been getting on recent posts. So now it's your turn... :)
DeleteSo excited for Eleanor and Park! I seriously can't wait to start it!
OOOOH yay, go read Cinder!!! No, but wait. First read Eleanor & Park! That one became an instant favorite. I absolutely adored it!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Okay, so I read Cinder today... Now I just have to get to Eleanor & Park. I'm so excited for it!
DeleteI totally slipped Quintana into my list this week too! I can't wait to catch up on Froi, and to eventually get to the end of the month ready to start Quintana!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I totally support your decision to read Throne of Glass and Cinder. I loved Throne of Glass because it reminded me WHY I wanted to write in the first place - creative characters, an interesting story and well, Chaol (who you will meet in it right away!).
I loved Cinder, on the other hand, because Marissa Meyer is a storytelling genius. I will pimp this series every chance I get, and you should definitely update me once you start it!
Happy reading!
Yay for Froi & Quintana! I'm really interested in seeing where Marchetta takes these characters and this world.
DeleteOkay, I'm really excited to read Throne of Glass because of how much you love it! Woohoo!
And I just finished Cinder today - FINALLY :)
YAY for Throne of Glass and Cinder! I absolutely adored both of those books and I think you'll enjoy them as well :)
ReplyDeleteEleanor & Park is a book I have seen on SO many people's list. I have a copy right now and am super excited to jump in and experience what everyone else has been raving about. I can't wait to hear what you think!
Those are the two books everyone has been telling me to read. Thankfully, I finished Cinder today so everyone can pat themselves on the back for finally getting me to read it.
DeleteAnd I've seen so many rave reviews of Eleanor & Park! I'm excited to read it AND to compare thoughts with you :)
Cinder is great, but Scarlet is even BETTER. I'm not going near Throne of Glass because of the triangle, or Bitterblue because I don't think I'll like it. I'm dying for Eleanor and Park and Quintana is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so you just saw me tweet about my feelings for Cinder. Excited to read Scarlet soon - hope it really makes me love the series! Haha I'm not surprised you don't want to read Throne of Glass. I'm concerned about Bitterblue, too, but we will see. I cannot wait to start Eleanor & Park... and YOU KNOW I'm looking forward to Quintana!
DeleteTotally agree with Lauren about Cinder. I LOVED Cinder, truly and forever, so when I say that Scarlet is even better, it really is so outstanding. I can't wait for you to read them both! Eleanor & Park too was so lovely; I think you'll love it!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll have time to read all these awesome books in between all these fantasy readalongs we've got going on right now!! I CANNOT WAIT to read Bitterblue, even though I sometimes hear sort of meh things about it. And Quintana! So glad that I ordered these from Fishpond, lol.
ALSO ALSO! We both had Revolutionary War/Colonial America on our TTTs about settings we want more of, so I immediately added The Turncoat to my TBR. Thank you for shouting it out, otherwise I would've missed it!!
I'm excited to hear that people love Scarlet even more! I liked Cinder, but I didn't love it. I can see WHY people did, but I didn't really connect with it. I'm really excited about Eleanor & Park - I loved Attachments, so I expect to adore this one even more!
DeleteOhhhh the readalongs! What did I get myself into this spring?! I'm excited to get to Quintana, and I'm glad we get to read it without a schedule (but can obviously still discuss). I have a feeling I'll want to speed right through it. I'm looking forward to Bitterblue, but I'm also a little worried about it. I've heard lots of meh things, too.
And yayyyyyy for Revolutionary War/colonial books! I totally thought of you when I included it on my list :)
I so need to read Cinder and Throne of Glass myself. I'm very excited for Eleanor & Park and City Girl, Country Vet looks like a very cute book. Great list!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Tuesday post!
Sana @ artsy musings of a bibliophile
Haha! Well it sounds like you'll have lots of good reading ahead of you, too :)
DeleteI've read Cinder twice!! You know how this girl feels about her re-reads. Also, I agree with Lauren up above, Scarlet is even better. I have a feeling once you dive into Cinder's world, you will want MORE. Let me know when you start this one. Since I just finished a re-read I won't read it again just yet (I'll re-read next year with audio for the next book) but I will want to discuss! SRSLY.)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I cannot tell you how much Eleanor and Park means to me. You'll just have to trust me. I need to buy Rowell's books for my shelves, but for right now I'll just have to settle with checking Attachments out of my library soon. I'm not sure it'll be able to come anywhere close to the amazingness of E&P though. So glad you're giving this one a shot. Would LOVE to discuss.
I didn't realize how thick Quintana is! I have it on the Kindle from NG but of course when you have a digital book it isn't easy to appreciate the length in the same way. Great list, H. LOVE these pictures. Also love the little nod to the South with the sweet tea. xo
Okay, so I just whisper tweeted to you about my feelings for Cinder. I don't know what happened. I wanted to totally adore it. I'm wondering if all the comments about it changed my expectations. I just don't know! I actually think I'll reread it in the future to see if it was a timing/expectations thing - kind of like I think you've mentioned doing with Divergent.
DeleteI'm very much looking forward to Eleanor & Park! Seriously. I had to buy myself a copy because I just had a feeling about it. It helped that I read and loved Attachments, so I'm hoping this is one is even better!
I know - Quintana is much thicker than I expected! Although really, it's the size of Froi that actually shocked me the most. That is one thick book!
And yay Southern ladies and sweet tea :)
I'm interested in your thoughts on Cinder. When I re-read again I think I want to audiobook it. Perhaps. No judging here. But I get what you say about the comments.
DeleteSO with you on Cinder! :)
ReplyDeleteI finally read it today! Woohoo for marking one off my list :)
DeleteI can't wait to enjoy Bitterblue with you! And I can't wait for you to get all up in Throne of Glass.
ReplyDeleteYayyyyy readalongs!
DeleteThrone of Glass is AMAZING!! Main character is one of my favs ever! Eleanor and Park is on my list, can't wait to read! Bitterblue is good, no Graceling but still very good. And Cinder...oh my word, read that so you can get to Scarlet!! Love the list Hannah, you've got some great ones!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about all the amazing things I'm hearing about Throne of Glass! It makes me even more excited to read it :)
DeleteAnd I just finished Cinder today, so hopefully I'll read Scarlet sometime soon.
Yay awesome books!
